General purpose machinery & equipment

It is an attachment, which can be fitted into any handloom Jacquard machine for the insertion of weft threads needed to make a variety of designs. Conventionally the task is done manually by tying knots, which is tedious, cumbersome and time consuming. The device consists of three components, base frame, magnet-bearing shaft and specially designed bobbin. Each attachment costs Rs. 2500/- (approx) and can reduce the time required for making designs to one third of the time required in traditional way.


  • It reduces human effort which otherwise required continuously to tie knots for weft thread
  • It allows the designing of fabrics in handloom by even persons not specifically skilled in this art
  • It provides easy and better solutions for the insertion of weft threads for making a variety of designs and of better quality as there is no knot, except in case of a broken thread, whereas any other design fabric may have more than 1200 knots
  • Crossing of a weft thread for a big (broad) design is very difficult in traditional looms; it is not a problem anymore as lifting of warps and crossing of weft threads are done automatically by the device
  • Can be used with all kind of jacquard machines

Modification to the traditional jacquard machine where the passing of the weft thread is to be done at one goes for all design

One needs to insert the weft thread manually, which is done by tying knots. On an average one fabric has around 1200 knots and tying a knot takes around 30 ses.


Each weft thread is connected. These bobbins are placed on the lower surface of the base frame, just on the top of the corresponding magnets fixed on the shaft. The frame is taken on top of the warp threads. The device is placed in such a way that the bobbins attached surface face down wards, and each bobbin falls in between 2 sets of lifted warp threads.


Using this attachment time required for weft thread insertion for making handloom design is 1/3rd of traditional method.
