The 'Ajooba Tubelight' consists of a tube-light frame with out any choke (normal or electronic) and starter. The product is capable of using even 80% fused tubes which are considered waste and are usually thrown away. The power consumption is low and the raw material required in manufacturing is less, as no choke and starter is required, hence the tube light is also cheaper. The power intensity can be controlled.

A unique attachment retrofitted to a conventional bi-cycle to make it amphibious. It is an ergonomically designed, low cost, manually operated transport vehicle with capacity to transport one person (rider). The bicycle has capabilities of having front and backward movement in water.The project has been supported under MVIF and has also been featured in leading National as well as International Channels like Discovery, BBC etc.

This device is a fully automated, cost effective husking machine for areca nut growers. The innovation is ready to market with a capacity to process 40 kg of areca nuts per hour, at a safe and comfortable pace of working. Indian Patent (2912/CHE/2008) has been filed for the Innovation. The product has been marketed under the banner of Sri Durga Engineering Works. Tamilnadu Agricultural University is one of the clients for the machine.

A low cost, portable, compact and essential aid to inflate the tyre tubes of two wheelers or any vehicle having kick start or auto start mechanism so as to enable the rider to reach nearby help station or repair shop. In this device air inside the compressor, while kicking, is utilized and transferred to the tube. Also a pinch of polymer granules is inserted to seal the leakage in the tube. The product has been licensed to an entrepreneur for manufacturing & marketing.

A knapsack sprayer in which the compression for spraying is generated by tapping the natural body movements through the means of a spring loaded dead weight. The innovative design facilitates increase in spraying productivity due to lowering of fatigue. An Indian patent (295768) has been granted on this innovation. The value addition of the product has been undergoing at CMERI, Durgapur and with a private product design house in Ahmedabad.

Whenever the water level sensor unit for overhead tank sends signal to control unit for switching on the pump, this unit (2) checks the water level in the source and send feedback, also when the pump is running (overhead tank is not completely filled) but there is no water in source, it sends signal to control unit for switching off the pump

A low cost, flexible, easy maneuverable and cost efficient sprayer mounted on any bicycle platform. Pressure is generated by the forward and backward movement of the bicycle and spraying is done through sprayer boon nozzles. This sprayer has an adjustable and foldable boom, which can be adjusted for height as well as spraying nozzle positions. An Indian Patent (A.N.688/CAL/2002) has been filed for the Innovation.

This is a mechanism with the help of which any bio-mass waste/ residue can be converted into inflammable gas (producer gas) which in turn can be used to run an engine, stoves and furnace etc. An Indian Patent has been filed for the Innovation. The Innovation has also been supported under MVIF. So far innovator has installed more than 60 engines in SSIs/ farm in and around Rajasthan, Haryana and punjab. This innovation makes life easy for the visually challenged person by alerting them, if they are stepping on water or into a pit, through a sensor based voice recorded system. If the blind person is going through a crowd, the person can press the toggle switch and a voice alert will be given to public with “EXCUSE ME SIDE PLEASE". It is a cost effective, semi automated and programmable tea making machine, which makes tea hygienically in a manner that preserves the original flavour and using the original ingredients like liquid milk etc. An Indian Patent has been filed for the Innovation. The main components of the sprayer are self made frame, lugged iron wheels, differential unit (of fiat car), belt and pulley drive, gear box, gear shifting lever, chain & sprocket drive, pump, spray tank (100 lit capacity), spray boom and nozzles. The device is pulled by a pair of bullocks. The gear box has three gears. When operator shifts the lever to higher gear, frequency of strokes of pump increases which consequently develops more pressure. As a result the spray fluid atomizes into fine droplets with wider swath. When the gear box is in neutral position, the drive to the pumping unit gets cut off. The suction pipe of the pump is connected to the spray tank and delivery pipe is connected to the spray boom. The height of the spray boom can be adjusted as per the requirement suiting to the height of the crop. The spray boom has 16 nozzles spaced at a distance of 35 cm.

This is a highly efficient, low cost, machine used for peeling of cassava roots, which are further used for many applications in the food industry.

Ceiling cooler is based on the simple principle that when unsaturated air comes in contact with water, the water evaporates. In the process, the moisture content of air increases, while its temperature decreases. The resulting cold and moist air is used for providing cooling. Thus a ceiling cooler is a simple device, which consists of an arrangement for blowing dry and hot air over a wet surface and an arrangement for keeping the surface wet continuously. The ceiling cooler consists of ceiling fan (not the fan being used by available coolers), submersible water-pump with motor, cylindrical water container having grass pad (Tati) and arrangement for water drip similar to that in desert cooler. It has four spokes made of valves of old engine for adjusting it and making completely leveled. It is effective in hot and dry areas.

Khar is basically an alkaline filtrate of ash obtained from burning the dried fiber of a plantain (banana) tree - 'Bheem Kol' (Musa Balbisiana). This water is called 'Khar' and is used in cooking delicious food dishes.

The present innovation relates to a compost aerator machine which can efficiently turn, mix, aerate and humidify the waste, for easy conversion of bio-wastes, to compost useful as rich manure in agriculture fields. An Indian patent no. (1717/DEL/2008) has been filed for the Innovation. His manufacturing unit is registered as Dhonshi Mechanization.

This machine is cost efficient, innovatively designed to remove cotton (indigenous variety of cotton V 797, Guj 21 and vager) from shell efficiently. In this process it does away with manual labour traditionally required and improves the quality of cotton. Patent granted in India & USA. Indian Patent no. (198755) & USA Patent no. (6543091 B2). The technology has been commercialized in India by M/s Chetak Industries Ltd, Viramgam, Gujarat. GIAN invites entrepreneurs interested in commercializing the technology outside India.

It is an attachment, which can be fitted into any handloom Jacquard machine for the insertion of weft threads needed to make a variety of designs. Conventionally the task is done manually by tying knots, which is tedious, cumbersome and time consuming. The device consists of three components, base frame, magnet-bearing shaft and specially designed bobbin. Each attachment costs Rs. 2500/- (approx) and can reduce the time required for making designs to one third of the time required in traditional way.

The husking of dry areca nut is done manually, which is a very tedious process and requires a large number of skilled workers. Getting skilled workers during the peak season is a challenging task for the areca nut farmers. For better peeling of dry arecanuts, Narsimha modified his earlier arecanut husking machine using the relative motion between the high-speed rotating cushioned discs. A 1 hp motor powers the husking disc and a blower of 2 hp power is provided to blow away the husk. The capacity of the machine is 40 kg/h of dry arecanuts and the husking efficiency is estimated to be around 90 per cent. NIF has filed a patent (2912/CHE/2008) for the technology in the innovator’s name.

The basic function of the present device is to convert a normal electrical current to a shock free electrical current. If the device is installed at a domestic service connection, say after the energy meter or the main switch, then the subsequent electrical lines will become shock free. This will protect shock from accidental touch on naked wires, faulty appliances, faulty switches, etc. and prevent serious injury or even loss of life.

Conventionally, tyre re-treading is carried out through steam based heating system using fire wood. This system needs at least 1.5 tons of fire woods to cure a 14 kg of matrix (heavy duty matrix weighing up to 80 kgs.) and for proper vulcanizing the matrix needs a temperature of 150 degree Celsius. In addition to that, in conventional system the entire tyre is exposed to heating which leads in reduction in life of the tyre too. To minimize all these problems, the innovator has developed an electrically heating system for matrix in tyre vulcanizing. An Indian patent has been filed for the innovation and the Project has been supported under MVIF. The product has been licensed to Eastern Treads a group company of Eastern Masalas.

It is a non-violent castor leaf based silk rearing technique wherein the 'pupa' is not killed before spinning yarn from the cocoons, the adult moth in ericulture is allowed to emerge alive from the cocoon and complete its full life cycle.

An attachment to exhaust manifold of stationary engine for reducing carbon particulates from the flue gas and damping the sound as well as temperature. It comprises a cylindrical housing in which exhaust gas is allowed to expand and strike over fins embedded over internal surface of cylinder and perforated tubular fins. This results dissociation of CO and CO2 present in the exhaust gas into carbon particulates, which can be removed periodically through opening (covered by lid) provided for this purpose. The carbon can be used as raw material for making boot polish and similar applications. The exhaust gases coming out from this kit has quite low temperature and results very low noise thus also helps in protecting from the problem of global warming and noise pollution. The Patent application no. is (1520/KOL/2008). BIT Mesra has confirmed drastic reduction in pollution using the device.

A food-grade highly cost competitive, fully automated machinery designed for bulk quantity peeling of garlic without damaging the garlic and maintaining the original property. This has wide application in pickle industry and use in herbal medicine (Pharma). The machine is energy efficient and saves labour. It economizes operating cost, saves initial capital investments and removes capacity constraints caused by shortage of human labour in peak season for the pickle industry. An Indian Patent has been filed for the product and it has also been supported under MVIF for commercialization.

The innovation consists of an iron box that is operated through LPG gas. There is an inbuilt automatic lighter for ignition of the filament in the iron. The box has a capacity of holding 1 kg of gas. The gas flows through a small copper pipe, the size of the pipe is such that 1kg of the gas can be used continuously for 24 hours. The flow of the gas can be regulated by a knob regulator. the iron gets warmed up within 2-3 minutes up to 45° C. The cost for operating the iron box for an hour is Rs. 1.8/- approximately.

The low cost gas operated iron is ideal for tailors and washer men due to its cost effectiveness, and simplicity in design.

Grading of raisins define a process to scale them on the basis of their size, mainly used for raisin preparation. Traditionally, the grapes are washed and twigs and debris are removed form each grape. This consumes a lot of time and energy. This single machine saves time by removing the twigs and debris from the raisins, separates the debris and the raisins and grades them by size simultaneously. The quality of the raisins graded is inspected visually. A cost efficient innovation to grade/sort the raisins (dried grapes) according to size thereby reducing time consumed than manual grading. It is also used for cleaning the raisin to remove dust, twigs and other foreign. It is available in two models of 2 and 4 tonnes capacity.

As a solution this device is a low cost low cost, drudgery reducing, tractor driven device which digs out the groundnuts and separates them from the earth. Post harvest about 25 % of the groundnuts remain buried in the soil which needs to be recovered through manual labor. An Indian patent no. (1806/ DEL/2004) has been filed for the Innovation and the project supported under MVIF. The innovation has been licensed to 'Ardu High Tech' in Vizay for its application as a sea beach cleaner.

Innovator began to experiment on tree and plant based dyes and finally got natural dye concentrates over wide range of colours. These concentrates do not require any binding material such as Titanium Dioxide. Craft council of India helped Shri Raju to get these dyes tested for their Toxicity. Most of these dyes proved to be lead-free. Those which show signs of toxicity also developed micro-toxins only if they were preserved in the form of slurry or liquid from over long durations. Mr. Raju developed an innovative technique to preserve them in the form of cakes, thus avoiding development of micro-toxins.

A device which introduces a small amount of air ahead of fresh charge at the beginning of suction stroke thus forming heterogeneous air fuel mixture in the cylinder. The upper charge near the spark plug has normal air-fuel mixture and charge at the lower end is lean. Combustion starts normally and flame propagates at normal pace towards the end fuel to produce sufficient power. The burned air-fuel mixture when exhausted during the exhaust stroke involves lesser losses.

Mr. Ratnakara started the experiment of making low water head turbine on a hit and trial basis. The turbine set consists of an alternator activated by the turn of the turbine and can produce 3.5 units of electricity per hour. It can generate 60 watt of power. Usually, the process of making a tie and dye' silk saree in Pochampally tradition begins with the selection of silk thread. Using the process of Asu, a triangular shape is given to the threads and designs are drawn on this shape. Tying is done where required as per the design and the threads are then dyed in selected colours. Once dried and untied, the dyed silk threads are rolled into spindles. The spindles are used appropriately in looms and the saree is woven.The Laxmi Asu machine, created by Mallesham in Andhra Pradesh, has relieved women from 8-9 hours of labour everyday. This has brought a revolution in the weaver community. An Indian Patent has been filed for the Innovation. The innovator has sold more than 500 units of the same.

A low cost, energy efficient water pumping device, which taps hydel power and is driven by the kinetic energy of the stream or water current. The pump is placed axially in the direction of flow in river or channel to capture high-speed water flow.

The operator sits down and pedals the unit, which facilitates the uniform agitation of the cement concrete to remove air-bubbles. An Indian patent (995/DEL/2004) has been filed for the Innovation. It is a cost efficient, manually operated (with both hand and foot pedal options), mobile wood cutting machine which significantly improves productivity as compared to manual sawing. An Indian Patent has been filed for the Innovation. The project has been supported under MVIF.

The mini sanitary napkin making machine has four different units namely de-fibration, core forming sealing unit and UV chamber for de-fibration of wood pulp, core forming, sealing with poly propylene and sterilization respectively. It is a technology to prepare the low cost sanitary napkin with the same materials as conventional napkins by cutting down the cost in production. It requires 3 to 4 manpower to produce 3 pads per min. More than 70 units of the machine have been installed across the country through different SHG's. The project has also been supported under MVIF. The product is manufactured under the banner of Jayashree Indusries.

An improved, cost effective and mobile pepper threshing unit with better productivity. It is retrofitted on to 8-10 HP standard tiller. Also a separate winnowing unit is developed, which has a prismatic wooden hopper block sitting on two bars on top of a tall vertical frame.

The mobile phone operated switch developed by Mr. Prem S Saini is operated through a cellular phone in which a configured phone number is stored. It is only through this configured phone numbers that the designated mobile phone, connected to the switch, can be activated.

The present modification in silencer increases the mileage of the vehicle (specially two wheeler with four strokes). Increment of the mileage happens due to proper combustion of the fuel. The main concept of this innovation is preheating of intake air so that complete combustion happens in engine. And the silencer is arranged with two aluminum head and a special noise reducer chamber which reduce the engine noise. It has validated at BIT, MESRA, Ranchi. It increases the mileage up to 27 percent.

The cost effective innovation having optimized size, material, weight and arrangement of silk rearing trays offers a host of benefits like easy maintenance, durability, increased productivity and profitability. As these trays are lighter in weight, a single person can handle these trays comfortably.

It is a modified transmission system for rickshaws/bicycles to reduce effort in pulling the load. When one pedals in clockwise direction the rickshaw/bicycle runs like an ordinary rickshaw/bicycle, and when pedaling is done in reverse direction the modified transmission system comes into effect by reducing the effort. If one wants to enjoy freewheel action during reverse pedaling, like ordinary bicycle/rickshaw, one needs to disengage gear by pulling the clutch wire. Effectively it also acts as brakes during reverse pedaling by restricting rearward movement of rickshaw over slopes. An Indian patent (1714/KOL/2007) has been filed for the Innovation.

The innovation is a vessel that is provided with a groove or a cavity at the lower part of the vessel to keep the sieve plates. A drain pipe is provided at the bottom to drain out the water from the vessel. The sieve at the bottom divides the boiled rice and the water and once the rice gets boiled, the water is drained by gravity by opening of the tap. The innovator also introduced another option to cook ‘sambhar’ in the same vessel by making a partition in the vessel. With this one can cook rice and sambhar at same time. It takes about 40 to 45 minutes to boil custom tasted potted rice and sambhar. Basically the rice cooked through pressure cooker is not advisable for the sugar patients as it consist of glucose in it.

A cost efficient, innovatively designed machine to separate the pepper berries from the pepper vines.

Low cost, energy efficient, environment friendly water cooler, which cools water naturally based on principle of heat exchange. The cooling process does not require external power source for operation. The technology has tremendous potential in dry and hot climatic conditions (i.e. tropical) where electricity is not available. An Indian patent no. (199939) has been granted to this innovation. The project has also been supported under MVIF.

The body is made of high quality steel and sheets to withstand maximum wear and tear. The thresher can be operated both with electric motor and diesel engine. The paddy straw is separated from the grain in the threshing cylinder. The straw is thrown out from the machine with the help of a blower, and the grains are thrown out through an outlet. The special feature of this machine is that it dose not chop the straw and the original length is retained.

An ergonomically designed device with two extended supporting rod from a circular disk to distribute weight, traditionally carried on head, to the shoulders,which is better positioned to carry weight. It provides relief to rural women who have to carry weight for a long distance.

The machine is a small agro processing machinery that has the capability for deseeding upto 5 kgs. of Pomegranate in 3-5 mins. The incubator is shaped like a refrigerator from outside with its length at 1.5 m (aprox.), breadth at .80m (aprox.) and height at 1m (aprox.) The weight of the incubator is about 100 kg. Its wall is about 10 cm thick, and is made up of plywood in the exterior and plain sheet in the interior with a mid portion made of thermocole. Thermocole is used to give it heat insulation.

The device is divided into two chambers, upper and lower. The upper chamber houses the main component of the incubator i.e. the egg tray and source of humidity, while the lower chamber houses the thermal source, the speaker and the switches. There are two sources of heat, the electric light and the kerosene lamp. There is a regulator (same as that used in fan) by which the intensity of the light can be altered. As the system needs continuous supply of power the innovator has solved this problem by using kerosene lamp during power failure.

Cooker has been modified with simple attachment of copper pipe along with pressure releasing valve in the lid. Water is heated for formulating steam over stove, once the steam is formed with sufficient pressure, it is released using the one way valve through the copper pipe and collected in jar containing mixture of coffee powder, milk and sugar. After allowing sufficient steam into the jar, one can enjoy the coffee.

The retrofitting car kit for the physically challenged enables a handicapped person having lower limb impairments to drive a car. The changes are made in such a way to as to be blended perfectly with the car interiors. The innovator also provides training to drive the modified car. The Innovator came up with Reversible Reduction Gearbox for Inboard Marine Diesel Engine as he observed the inconvenience of the local fisherman while fishing with existing marine appliances. In the earlier diesel engines there is a lack of powered gear system for maneuverability. To overcome the above major problems the innovator developed a suitable gearbox for inboard engine for better maneuverability and to minimize the fuel cost.The innovator has also incorporated a Z drive propeller system into the assembly for ease of boats landing & cleaning. The safely valve is used to release the extra pressure generated in the stove tank automatically eliminating the manual exercise required to turn threaded controller on the stove tank cover. It provides extra safety to the user. An Indian Patent No. (218167) has been granted to the innovation. The project has also been supported under TEPP through NIF.

The solar mosquito destroyer offers a cost-effective and environment-friendly solution to destroy mosquitoes. It attracts the flies utilizing the smell from a drainage/septic tank and traps them into the translucent top (solar furnace), where they perish in the heat of the sun. Mosquitoes have low heat resistance capacity and hence they get killed. The innovation is based totally on solar energy, which makes the system very eco friendly. An Indian patent No. (198668) has been granted to this innovation.

The device consists of a platform, hemi spherical chipping knife, linkage system and handle. It is used to chip out the bud from sugarcane for sowing purpose and for tissue culture.Novelty of the unit lies in lever operated hemi spherical chipping knife which provides gentle cutting of bud without extra loss of sugarcane during sowing. This ultimately gives higher income to the farmer by utilizing the remaining portion of the chipped canes which can be used for juice extraction or sugar production. An Indian patent has been filed for the Innovation. The project has also been supported under MVIF.The product is being manufactured under the banner of "Jai Ambe Steel Fabrications".

In the traditional bullock cart, with two wheels, part of the load is borne by the draft animals on their shoulders and neck and the harnessing system at present makes it difficult to negotiate sharp bends or turns in the road. This causes gall on the neck of the bullocks, which affects not only the efficiency of the animals but also their stamina. This cart is thus designed to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional carts by having an additional wheel to balance the load. In addition the cart has a tilting mechanism which is based on the rope and pulley system which can be controlled by a lever located alongside the cart driver. The innovation was supported by TEPP through GIAN-WEST. An Indian Patent no. (194420) has been granted to this innovation.

The device consists of transformers, ICs, Diode, resistors, timer plate, micro switch, leave switch and 6 pin sockets. The components as mentioned above are assembled in a particular way with 6 wires coming out. Through these wires the device is connected to a 3 phase starter. The device has alarm watch like arrangement, using the same one can set the required time duration for which one wants the appliance connected to starter to remain on. The device is used for putting on/off the irrigation pump to supply irrigation water for preset time. The device cumulates time till it is reset, eg. If one sets 3 hrs. as required duration for allowing the pump to be on and power fails after 20 minutes only, the device will again start the pump when electricity appears and allows pump to remain on for the remaining duration.

It is a tractor drawn semi automatic Onion transplanter consisting of cultivator frame, furrow opener, fertilizer drilling unit, feeding chute seedlings, seedlings tray, two ground wheels with gear connected to fertilizer drill through chain and sprockets and seating arrangement for four labors, etc. When the tractor moves forward, the fertilizer metering mechanism gets the drive to release the fertilizers in the tubes. The seedlings (50 days age nursery) are delivered manually to the delivery chutes at the regular intervals. The seedling hoppers are connected with fertilizer drilling tubes at bottom, so that precise amount of fertilizers can be drilled along with seedlings while planting. A channel forming ridger plough is mounted offset to the right end of the transplanter to form the irrigation channel simultaneously.

The innovation is a mechanical, semi-automate, pedal operated washing machine for clothes, which works on the principle of tumbling effect. The device comprises a cuboid shaped encasement, which rotates through a shaft integrated to pedals with a seating arrangement for the user. The operation facilitates physical exercise for the user. An Indian Patent no. (207634) has been granted to this innovation.

The variety has wider adaptability to different shade conditions apart from having higher production than other Mysore, Vazhukka, Njallani, Green-bold, Palakkudi and Veeraputhara varieties, which are locally popular. It has sturdy plants, robust tillers and deeper root system, which makes it resistant to various biotic and abiotic stresses. The variety has high export potential.
