In a function at RJMCEI, IIM A on 26 November 2008, Dr. APJ Abdul- Kalam gave away the prizes to student winners of the IGNITE 08 competition. On the occasion, an exhibition of all the award winning innovations was also organized at the venue. The gathering of over 500 people included students, teachers, parents, from all over the country apart from local school children, NGOs representatives and invited guests. |

Dr. Kalam, in his address to the audience, urged them to be thoughtful and responsible towards the society and the country. He congratulated the children and wished they would keep on doing innovative work especially in the field of sustainability and clean green energy. He also mentioned that it was the time for the educated and motivated youth of the country to take an initiative in political leadership to change the face of the new India. |

The IGNITE competition (Round 1 & 2) was organized between July and September 08 with the support of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), SRISTI and other partners across India. The award winners were announced on October 15, the birth date of Dr. Kalam, celebrated as the Children's Creativity and Innovation Day by NIF and HBN. |
