National Innovation Foundation announces the awards for the first segment of the IGNITE 08 contest organised in partnership with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Society for Research and Initiatives in Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI) and others. The contest, which ran from July 15, 2008 to September 15, 2008, saw participation of 762 students from sixty-two districts of nineteen states in the country. Overall 961 ideas and innovations were received from the school and college students. These ideas/innovations ranged for sectors like transport, energy, environment, general household utility items and some even discussed societal problems. |
| It is most appropriate that the award winners are being announced on October 15 th , the birth day of children's favorite Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, celebrated as the Children's Creativity and Innovation Day by NIF. |

For the best ideas and innovations received during IGNITE 08, the prizes to the award winners will be given on November 26, 2008 at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Following are the award winners in their respective categories, who are also being intimated personally. Congratulations to all! |
